Natchez, MS

Founded in 1716, Natchez may be the oldest city on the Mississippi River. A city built on a bluff nearly 200 feet above the Mississippi River, Natchez offers the greatest views of the greatest river in North America and will again host the Feast of Tabernacles.

The city was named for the Natchez tribe of in the indigenous Americans who inhabited this area from the eighth century A.D. Then came the Spanish, the French, and then the Southerners, all leaving traces of their culture. During the Civil War, Natchez was surrendered by Confederate soldiers without much bloodshed and was spared devastating conflict and destruction. Fortunately, the city was not burned, and much of Natchez remains post 1865.

A walkable, vibrant, and well-preserved city with numerous miles of walking trails, Natchez includes sites around Fort Rosalie, the William Johnson House, and some of America’s most impressive antebellum architecture open for interior tours. Natchez is home to over 1,000 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A rich Southern history flows in abundance along the Mississippi. Memories of yesteryears and stunning moonlight views of the mighty Mississippi River are shared with the commerce of modern riverboats and steady commercial travel. Historic Natchez is a beautiful, quaint little town with shops and boutiques on every corner and some of the finest restaurants in Mississippi.

In addition to the hotels, there are many Antebellum bed and breakfast establishments, beautiful parks, and more sightseeing marked by historical markers than most cities in the South. Natchez is an excellent site where God has placed His name for the 2023 Feast of Tabernacles, and you are invited to come and enjoy the beauty and charm of Natchez, Mississippi. We look forward to your visit!
